3 CHPs for Saint-Luc University Hospital
What was our approach?
In 2021, Luminus Solutions developed a tailor-made heating solution for Saint-Luc University Hospital. This project involved the installation of three combined heat and power units (CHPs), each with a capacity of 1,200 kWe. These CHPs were designed for an overall energy efficiency of 88%.
The installation was integrated into the existing boiler house and connected to the local heat grid, despite challenges such as the stability of the subsoil and the load-bearing capacity of the roof for the drycoolers.
What was the result?
The CHP installed yields CO2 savings of 21% compared to separate heat and power production.
The flexibility of the plant has been increased by the ability to service motors individually without interrupting the entire heat supply.
Luminus Solutions has also installed a heat buffer for efficient use of excess heat and provides omnium maintenance of the plant.
All this helps to reduce CO2 emissions, even when using fossil fuels, due to the efficiency of combined heat and power generation.
