Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Biogas Generation at the Alken-Maes Brewery Site
What was our approach?
At Alken-Maes, Luminus Solutions replaced the outdated biogas CHP unit with a new, more efficient 250 kWe installation from manufacturer 2G. The new engine was integrated into the existing housing, combined with an upgraded control panel, gas analysis cabinet, and improved temperature regulation. To further enhance the reliability of the biogas supply, an activated carbon filter was added.
Thanks to thorough preparation and the reuse of several existing components — such as the flue gas cooler and gas scrubbing system — we successfully delivered the entire installation within a downtime period of just twelve weeks. This project reinforces the brewery’s energy efficiency and continues the strong, sustainable partnership between Luminus Solutions and Alken-Maes.
