What was our approach?
The collaboration between Vivalia and Luminus Solutions has gained strong momentum in recent years with two CHP projects in Arlon and Marche-en-Famenne. Through these investments, Vivalia advances energy efficiency, lowers CO₂ emissions, and ensures financially sound operations. For Luminus Solutions, this confirms the continuity of a successful, long-term partnership.
As a leading hospital group in the Province of Luxembourg, Vivalia sought a partner with proven CHP expertise and a deep understanding of healthcare’s specific needs. Thanks to our long-standing work with the Arlon site, our technical know-how, and the right solutions, Vivalia again chose our team for the new CHP in Marche-en-Famenne.
What was the result?
Arlon (overhaul 365 kWe, 2024): engine and generator overhauled; piping and pumps replaced; thoroughly cleaned and tested.
Recommissioned in early 2024, perfectly timed for the heating season.
Lifetime extension in Arlon: at least +25,000 operating hours (after >65,000 h).
Payback in Arlon: about 2.5 years.
Green certificates in Arlon: maximum utilization guaranteed until 2028.
Marche-en-Famenne: new 357 kWe CHP with reliable MAN engine (end of 2022).
Integration in Marche: connected to existing electrical and heat networks, with a buffer tank for optimal operation.
Efficiencies in Marche: 38% electrical and 51% thermal.
CO₂ reduction in Marche: nearly 35% lower emissions.
Operational assurance: maintenance contracts and 24/7 (remote) monitoring ensure high availability.
Partnership: over 10 years of collaboration; first CHP in Arlon delivered in 2014.
