15% lower energy consumption and increased comfort for two schools in Courcelles

What was our approach?
In collaboration with the municipality of Courcelles, we modernised two schools in Trazegnies (Sart-lez-Moulin and l’Yser), aiming to reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions by 15%.
Under a four-year energy performance contract we worked in phases to update the existing infrastructure. In a 1st phase old gas boilers were replaced by efficient condensing boilers, new radiators installed, and heat pumps installed. Both schools received a smart control system for optimal energy management. In a 2nd phase, we replaced the exterior fenestration in Sart-lez-Moulin, further establishing Courcelles as an exemplary municipality in terms of sustainable school infrastructure.
The renovations were deliberately scheduled during school holidays so as not to disrupt school operations. These sustainable interventions not only reduce energy costs, but also increase comfort for students and teachers.
What was the result?
Reduction of energy consumption by at least 15%
Reduction of CO₂ emissions thanks to more efficient heating systems
New condensing boilers and radiators provide more comfort in the classrooms
Smart control optimises energy consumption during and outside school hours Installation of heat pumps for sustainable heating of sanitary facilities
Minimal disruption by carrying out the works during school holidays
First step towards making municipal buildings more sustainable on a wider scale
