More and more companies are focusing on sustainability, energy efficiency, and reducing their CO2 emissions. Critical power supply is also part of this transition. Our new 1600kVA mobile UPS, available from October 2025, already runs on biodiesel and is ready for the future.
At Luminus Solutions, we continuously explore how to align our solutions with the sustainability goals of our customers. One such possibility is the use of HVO biodiesel as an alternative to conventional diesel in our dynamic rotary UPS systems and mobile UPS solutions.
What is HVO and why is it interesting?
HVO stands for “Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil”, a synthetic, renewable diesel produced from vegetable oils and residual fats. Unlike traditional fossil diesel, HVO contains almost no sulphur or aromatics, resulting in cleaner combustion. That makes it an attractive fuel for applications where reliability and sustainability must go hand in hand.
Even more important: over its entire life cycle, HVO emits up to 90% less CO2 than regular diesel. A significant difference, especially for systems with a lifespan of over 25 years.
Environmentally conscious power protection: mobile and fixed
That’s why we’ve made our large 1600kVA mobile UPS systems compatible with HVO. This allows us to ensure continuous power quality with a lower environmental impact, even during major maintenance or temporary critical projects.
Our new fixed dynamic UPS installations of the PowerPRO type from Hitec Power Protection can also now be delivered with HVO-certified engines.
Even existing installations can, in most cases, be converted after a short study and validation to confirm the system can run safely and effectively on HVO. Usually, the switch requires no major technical changes, and stable, safe operation is guaranteed. Which is ideal for companies wanting to green their installations without sacrificing reliability or performance.
Why switch to HVO biodiesel for your critical power supply?
With HVO, you choose a much more sustainable fuel that emits up to 90% less CO₂ compared to standard diesel.
Moreover, HVO is a smart future-proof choice. It not only helps reduce your ecological footprint, but also prepares you for stricter future regulations and increasing expectations from customers and partners.
